We are looking for a Senior Process Engineer to provide technical support for our CAPEX plan, Operational assets optimisation, and Process Safety risk reduction.
Working within a multi discipline engineering team you will have the opportunity to deliver medium to large projects throughout the project lifecycle. Supporting our strategic objectives for environmental and safety goals, cost of goods control, OEE and productivity improvements.
This position will suit someone with a good technical background looking to apply it to a complex COMAH manufacturing environment. Someone who sets high standards for themselves and builds trust within their team.
More about the role
As Senior Process Engineer you will lead on various activities including;
- Involvement in full capital project lifecycle from opportunity identification through to commissioning. Provide Process Engineering expertise on minor and major capital investments as the designated process engineering at design reviews.
- Creation, checking and approval of process engineering deliverables and vendor documents such as PFDs, mass and energy balances, P&IDs, process descriptions, process data sheets, relevant schedules and control philosophies.
- Input to hazard studies, relief and blowdown calculations, DSEAR assessment and functional safety reviews.
- Optimisation of existing operational assets through the use of complex problem solving and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Champion the application of corporate engineering standards, providing critical review to ensure we continually improve.
Reporting to the Process Engineering Lead you will support the integration of new projects into the existing Victrex SHE and Engineering systems to ensure smooth handover to the plant Operations team. Provide technical expertise to the Operations team for troubleshooting and continuous improvement of the site operations. Optimisation of existing assets with respect to: throughput, cost of manufacture, yield, batch to batch quality, and energy efficiency. You will identify opportunities & produce feasibility studies for improving all aspects of the manufacturing operations.
The Senior Process Engineer position is a highly respected role, where input into key strategic objectives can influence the direction of the company and contribute to success. Expectation to champion the application and knowledge transfer of Victrex standards to achieve the highest standard of engineering, supporting the growth of junior engineers.
Your experience
We are looking for someone with excellent communications skills with proven experience of communicating to and influencing a wide range of stakeholders, including senior management. Extensive knowledge of Process Engineering statutory regulations. You will have demonstrable knowledge and practical application of Project management methods and continuous improvement methods.
Our ideal candidate will have delivered major capital projects on COMAH regulated production plants and have significant knowledge of Process Safety including experience of hazard studies, functional safety, DSEAR and pressure relief. You will have experience of delivering significant plant improvement projects and led commissioning of new equipment.
Required:
- BEng or MEng Degree in Chemical engineering with experience working at a senior level.
- Chartered engineer (or working towards within 1 year) with professional body (ideally IChemE).
- Recent relevant Process Engineering experience within the chemical industry on a manufacturing plant, ideally within a COMAH / IPPC regulated environment.
- Capable of analytical thinking; diagnosing problems and developing solutions.
- Ability to learn; quickly understands and applies new information and technology.
- Critical Information Seeking; gathers critical information from key sources to assist problem solving.
- Concern for Standards; pursues highest standards in all aspects of work & leads by example.
- Results Orientation; focuses on key objectives, wanting effective outcomes.
Desired:
- Familiarity/qualified problem solving techniques (Lean/six Sigma, Fault Tree, FMEA).
- I.T literacy particularly MS Office Suite, AutoCAD LT & Plant DCS / SCADA systems.
- Proven ability to manage time, people and costs within a project environment.
