Senior Technical Engineer

Victrex is seeking an experienced, skilled, self-driven and proactive thinking Senior Technical Engineer, with strong and demonstrable orientation toward technical and applications expertise, relevant to Victrex’s business and markets. This role is ideal for a technically adept engineer with hands-on industrial experience and have a passion for delivering a positive customer experience. The ideal candidate will possess core polymer and process technical strengths, with added competencies in digital technologies and future-focused markets being highly desirable.
About the Role: The position requires Polymer, Processing and Application expertise to deliver differentiated technical service and application development support to new and existing customers, within the European region and across multiple industries. You will work directly with customers, and collaboratively across Technical, R&D and Commercial teams and own technical deliverables in supporting customers through their design, development and manufacturing lifecycle with Victrex products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consulting - Provide in depth technical product, process, application and engineering know-how in Victrex markets, being a credible technical advisor to customers within the region and, where required, supporting colleagues across multiple global regions.
- Technical Support - Responding and delivering technical support and services to customer product performance issues or processing challenges. Regional contact between customer and Quality for resolution of customer concerns.
- Business Development - In collaboration with Sales, support business development plans through proactive technical engineering proposals, owning key technical milestones for commercial targets, and developing a technical support network aligned to the commercial plans.
- Customer Relationship - Drive and develop technical relationships with critical decision makers within multi-national partner/key accounts, identifying new opportunities, continuous improvement and enhancing the customer experience.
- Market Awareness - Delivering education programs on products, processing and applications and support technical marketing plans for new and existing products.
- NPD - Technical lead for the customer requirements input of New Product Development projects with customers within the region, supporting the customer value chain through their product evaluation, qualification and validation lifecycle stages and through to scale manufacture.
Experience and Skills Required:
- Demonstrable expertise in materials and/or polymer science, preferably experience in the field of high-performance polymers and/or engineering thermoplastics and their processing.
- Broad application and system-level understanding and experience in a commercial environment, delivering technical solutions to customer decision-makers.
- Demonstrable hands-on polymer processing experience and knowledge, desirable in injection moulding processing technology.
- Professional knowledge and experience with use and application of digital tools, such as part or process simulation, business intelligence platforms, and productivity tools.
- Excellent communication skills, with an ability to speak both technical and commercial language in both German and English, in combination with proven customer interfacing skills.
- Demonstrable ability to work independently on specific tasks, as well as collaborate closely with other technical and non-technical staff to resolve technical tasks quickly, thoroughly and improve customer experience.
- Strong ability to influence using technical facts and data based analytical approaches.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree or equivalent in engineering, polymer science or materials science discipline.

- Matured Annual Revenue Impact: £0.5M - £10M per year
- Commercial Projects: 5-10 growth target projects annually, some involving complex or high support levels.
- Customers: 2-5 Partner/Key customer accounts and >50 customers supported annually
- Key Customer Contacts: 5 - 10
- Span: Multi Regional Stakeholders in R&D, Sales, Marketing and Quality
