The Role
We are looking for a proactive Business Development Manager (BDM) to join our Sales team in Japan. Your primary objective will be to expand (y)our network and build a pipeline of opportunities within Consumer Electronics, Semicon and Home Appliance. You will be responsible for managing a number of specifiers within Electronics. Your goal will be to identify and capitalize on opportunities based on High Performance Polymers within these accounts, coordinating their development until commercialization and delivery of the first 12 months of revenue.
Job Responsibilities
- developing a comprehensive understanding of the account’s business, culture, drivers, strategy, goals and how they generate revenue and profit to build a pipeline of new opportunities through effective pro-active prospecting techniques and efficient opportunity management.
- identifying key stakeholders and decision-makers throughout the account's organization and its supply chain (buying center) in order to establish long-term strategic partnerships all hierarchy levels and relevant functions.
- creating and managing business opportunities (leads) from existing or new accounts and provide advanced technical and regulatory support to convert those in qualified opportunities.
- identifying the defined and undefined needs of customers, determining short, medium, and long-term opportunities, and convert them into cash/revenue.
- supporting Strategic Market Assessments (SMAs) by investigating market trends, validating assumptions from Strategic Marketing, and delivering compelling Victrex solutions to industry stakeholders to drive revenue growth in new market segments.
- documenting progress, issues and support need in English to support business decision-making through an accurate reporting of customer activity and pipeline in CRM (contacts, meeting reports & opportunity management).
- negotiating Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), Letter Of Intents (LOIs), and Joint Development Agreements (JDAs). Additionally, facilitating Sales Agreement discussions or providing support when after commercialization the direct buying accounts are owned by Sales Account Managment.
- Coordinating all targets until commercialization and ensuring the delivery of revenue within the first 12 months in collaboration with the Sales Account Managers responsible for the direct buying accounts involved within the value chain (processors, distributors, etc.).
- Providing forecast input to regional sales leadership for new opportunities and the relevant Sales Account Managers to update Integrated Business Planning (IBP) via Arkieva.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have proven experience as a Business Development Manager or in a relevant role with a pro-active attitude. A Bachelor's degree is required, and a Master's degree is preferred. Excellent communication skills in both Japanese and English, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Professional, are required. Experience in Microsoft Dynamics CRM or D365 is considered advantageous.
We invite individuals applying for this role in Japan to demonstrate a proven track record of proactive and open-minded Business Development activities in the Industry, with preference for experience in Electronics sector. Experience in specialty chemicals, high-performance polymers or sales of polymer films, injection molded components and extrusion will be highly valued.
