We have an exciting opportunity for you at Victrex Sustainable Solutions, part of the Victrex plc group, as a Senior Industrialisation Manager. The position will be based on-site at Hillhouse, with some potential for hybrid working. It will involve occasional travel, primarily to the Victrex facilities located in Portsmouth.
The Role:
Provide subject matter expertise for the performance evaluation quality and testing of PEEK polymer and components used in thermoplastic composite pipes and hybrid flexible pipes; a strategic Victrex growth opportunity.
Focus on key components such as extruded PEEK pipe (“Liner”) and unidirectional-oriented continuous carbon-fibre reinforced PEEK tapes (“UD Tape”), including multilayer composite structures.
Key point of contact for all matters related to PEEK polymer and component performance and quality characterisation for both internal and external customers.
Collaborate closely with senior technical experts internally and externally to support the successful qualification and commercial adoption of thermoplastic composite pipes and hybrid flexible pipes.
This role is heavily customer-focused and requires excellent communication and leadership skills.
Responsibilities:
Provide expertise in performance evaluation quality and testing of PEEK polymer and components related to the deployment in thermoplastic composite pipes and hybrid flexible pipes
Act as a primary contact for internal and external customers for the thermoplastic composites pipes program.
Collaborate with senior technical experts internally and externally to support the successful qualification and commercial adoption of thermoplastic composite pipes and hybrid flexible pipes.
Manage complex test programs both internally and with third-party consultants.
Coordinate and manage quality initiatives, including specification setting and continuous improvement projects.
Qualifications and Experience:
Fundamental polymer/materials science background with an emphasis on physical and mechanical properties.
Degree qualified in a relevant discipline; a doctorate is an advantage but not essential. (Minimum 2:1)
Understanding the of structure-property relationships for semi-crystalline thermoplastics.
Experience with extrusion and melt processing of polymer materials.
Experience with composites is preferable
Background in product design, component specification setting and manufacturing
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience interpreting statistical data.
Project management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Understanding of experimental design principles.
Team working and engagement skills.
