Join our team as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician and play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our industrial site.
About the Role
In this rewarding role, you will play a key part in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of mechanical equipment in a fast-paced environment. We are seeking proactive individuals who thrive in a collaborative team and are dedicated to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
This role may progress to a shift-based position if this is of interest to the successful candidate. Should this occur, a shift allowance of £9,425.45 per annum would also be paid in addition to the base salary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance activities on mechanical systems and equipment across the site, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults on machinery such as pumps, valves, conveyors, gearboxes, and compressors.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, production teams, and other technicians.
- Complete maintenance records and accurately update documentation including work orders, parts usage and equipment history.
- Proactively identify areas for improvement and participate in root cause analysis and reliability initiatives.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental procedures, championing safe working practices at all times.
- Support minor project upgrades, installations and modifications as required by the business.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Experience in a similar mechanical maintenance or technician role on an industrial manufacturing COMAH site.
- Thorough understanding of mechanical systems, fault finding, and repair methods.
- An awareness of the main regulations affecting industrial sites
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Commitment to health and safety procedures and continuous professional development.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Recognised engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, BTEC, HNC or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 3yrs experience maintaining industrial chemical process equipment.
- Detailed knowledge and experience maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems, rotating equipment, condition monitoring, various drive systems and fluid and material handling systems.
- Familiarity with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Flexibility
- Flexibility to work overtime or provide cover during holidays, sickness, or planned shutdowns is essential.
