Technical Engineer (m/f/d) or Senior Technical Engineer (m/f/d)

Victrex is seeking a (Senior) Technical Engineer to join our European Technical Engineering team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of high-performance polymer innovation across multiple industries. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer with strong technical expertise and hands-on industrial experience in a commercial environment.
About the Role
As a (Senior) Technical Engineer at Victrex, you will act as a key technical interface between customers and internal teams, providing expert guidance on polymer materials, manufacturing processes, and application development. You’ll collaborate across R&D, Commercial, and Quality functions to support customers throughout their product lifecycle—from concept and development to scale-up and serial manufacture.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Consultancy: Deliver deep technical insights on products, processes, and applications across Victrex’s markets.
Customer Support: Resolve product performance and processing issues, ensuring swift resolution in collaboration with Quality teams.
Business Development: Partner with Sales to drive growth through technical proposals, milestone ownership, and strategic support.
Relationship Building: Cultivate strong technical relationships with key decision-makers, identifying new opportunities and enhancing customer satisfaction.
Market Engagement: Lead educational initiatives and support technical marketing for new and existing products.
New Product Development: Represent customer needs in NPD projects, guiding evaluation, qualification, and validation stages.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Proven industrial experience in polymer sciences, product engineering, materials science, and polymer manufacturing processes
Fluent spoken and written German and English, Knowledge of French an advantage
German resident with permanent work permit
At least 3-5 years of work experience
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Additional expertise in digital tools and technologies (e.g., simulation software, AI platforms) is highly desirable.
Qualifications
Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Polymer Science, or Materials Science
Experience and Skills Required
Expertise in polymer and material sciences, ideally in high-performance polymers or engineering thermoplastics
Hands-on experience with polymer processing technologies such as injection moulding, extrusion, or coatings
Proficiency in digital tools for design and productivity. (e.g., predictive simulation, modelling and AI platforms
Strong understanding of value chain application development and system-level integration in a commercial setting
Excellent communication skills in German and English (C1–C2 level), with the ability to translate technical insights into commercial value
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and influence through data-driven analysis.
Role Metrics
Revenue impact: £0.5M – £10M annually
Commercial Projects: 5–10 growth target opportunities per year
Customer Portfolio: 2–5 key accounts, plus support for 50+ customers
Stakeholder Reach: Multi-regional collaboration across R&D, Sales, Marketing, and Quality
