Senior Technologist

The Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Technologist to join our technical team in China. The role will develop composite applications by converting unidirectional tape (UDT) and other advanced materials into functional, manufacturable components. The successful candidate will support projects across aerospace, electronics, performance sports, energy and industrial, and medical markets, working from concept and prototype through testing, qualification and production implementation.
Job Responsibilities
· Lead application development projects that convert UDT and other composite materials into functional components.
· Translate application requirements into material selection, laminate or part design, manufacturing process and validation plans.
· Develop and optimise suitable composite processing methods, tooling and process parameters.
· Design and manufacture prototypes, demonstrators and test samples, ensuring repeatable quality and performance.
· Define and execute material and component testing using relevant standards, methods and laboratory equipment.
· Analyse process and test data, investigate failures and solve technical problems using structured methods.
· Manage technical projects from concept through qualification and transfer to production.
· Work closely with customers, partners, suppliers and internal teams, and provide clear technical reports, presentations and training.
· Support safe and efficient laboratory operations, equipment management and compliance with quality and EHS requirements.
· Identify gaps and continuously improve composite development laboratory capability including both prototype and simulation.
Requirements
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent in composite materials, materials science, mechanical engineering, polymer engineering, aerospace engineering or a related discipline. An advanced degree is preferred.
· Strong knowledge of continuous-fibre composites, preferably including thermoplastic composites and UDT.
· Solid hands-on experience converting composite materials into finished parts, including design, tooling, processing, inspection and validation.
· Experience with a range of composite manufacturing methods and the ability to select and optimise suitable processes.
· Good understanding of composite design, manufacturability, material behaviour and failure modes.
· Practical knowledge of composite test criteria, relevant standards and laboratory equipment.
· Strong problem-solving, data-analysis, project-management and technical-reporting skills.
· Effective communication and stakeholder-management skills in customer-facing and cross-functional environments.
· Professional working proficiency in spoken and written English, with strong Chinese communication skills.
· Laboratory management experience and experience in one or more target markets are advantages.
